Position Summary: The Sr Product Development Manager is responsible for managing the development and production of **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. product. The ideal team member will be passionate about product, creative, and a critical thinker with an intense curiosity and drive for success.The Sr Product Development Manager must demonstrate the ability to efficiently plan and prioritize all deliverables and resources across multiple categories and responsibilities. The role requires creating product strategies with merchandising team that lay out clear action steps to drive new product development, cost savings, responsible sourcing and customer satisfaction.The Sr Product Development Manager will lead the development process from initial concept to commercialized product as well as manage and develop strong, lasting relationships with our global supply base. The Sr Product Development Manager will also lead the training and development of junior staff within the Product Development Team.Primary Duties and Responsibilities:Product DevelopmentLead and drive the product development process from design, materials and trim concepts into a manufacturable to quality and commercialized finished product.Understand key cost drivers that affect product development to create both compelling and profitable product while meeting margin requirements.Collaborate with cross functional teams (CFT) on the design and engineering of seasonal development as well as proposing viable new products to brand partners.Research emerging material, trim and style trends by attending material and industry shows, meeting regularly with suppliers, mills and factories to present innovative ideas.Responsible for ensuring that the materials selected can be commercialized by working closely with our suppliers as well as internal partners to ensure goals can be met.Develop fabric, trims, and styles with suppliers and facilitate the approval and delivery of product, bringing best value and quality to market.Evaluate the risks associated with developed materials, trims and products and communicate to CFT and Product Quality Assurance (PQA) dept.Execute seasonal development calendars to ensure deadlines, costing KPI's and quality standards are met.Knowledgeable about HTS codes / import duties to develop product into correct and favorable duty category.Work closely with Technical Design to ensure an efficient fit process with minimum prototypes, address quality concerns, and offer alternative construction for cost consideration.Oversee color development and management including lab dips and bulk materials.Be an expert of product knowledge in assigned product categories.Lead transparent communication and responsible sourcing practices.Collaborate with Sourcing team to develop risk mitigation strategies for Key Programs.Be a lead in the exploration and research of technologies, concepts, and materials that will add value to **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***..Develop negotiation strategies to deliver business margin objectives and manage accurate costing documentation.Partner with Sourcing team to evaluate supplier's core competencies and competitive positioning.Review vendor score carding with sourcing team and develop an appropriate improvement plan for each individual vendor.Collaborate with Developers and Assistants to proof seasonal catalogs and marketing materials.Manage the life cycle of the product through approvals of Pre-Production/Top of Production.Support the execution of the Global Sourcing Strategies.Collaborate with Sourcing team in establishing new business relationships and strengthen the current supplier base to support business growth.Production ManagementManage suppliers to ensure product is delivered on time and meets **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. Quality and compliance requirements.Manage monthly capacities and WIP reports to ensure on-time delivery of product.Collaborate closely with the planning team to balance order flows that fit with suppliers' capabilities and capacities.Establish and maintain direct and effective communication with suppliers and internal partners.Partner with Quality Assurance and Sourcing to review, evaluate, and resolve all product related quality issues with suppliers.Support the requirements for social compliance and safety standards to ensure that they are met by the supply base.Ensure the global quality program is fully executed across the entire product development lifecycle.Manage and Develop Assistants Train, develop, and coach Developers and Assistants in reaching their professional goals and objectives, and becoming highly functioning **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. team members.Conduct reviews and evaluations to ensure associates are meeting the appropriate level of performance to meet their career and department goals.Requirements for Position:Deep understanding of the garment and textile manufacturing processes, factory evaluation techniques, and vendor compliance requirements.High level understanding of forecasting, buy planning, factory loading, and capacity planning.Knowledgeable in component costing; including garment construction, raw material options, and landing factors.Sound understanding of international trade agreements, customs regulations, and product safety standards.Strong ability to interact effectively with global supply chain at all levels of management.Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate goals and objectives.Strong problem-solving skills with a results driven mindset.Consistently demonstrate strong people skills, acts with professionalism, can resolve conflicts and contribute to a positive work environment.Frequent (20 %) physically demanding international travel for prolonged periods (2 weeks) to factories and mills is required. Family with a can-do attitude.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Apparel/Textile design, merchandising, or equivalent working experiences.15 years of experience in product development and production management.Computer skills; proficient with Microsoft Excel, other Microsoft office applications, and general data base software.Extended knowledge and experiences in specific category of assignment is required.Physical Demands:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk.
